If you have wandered down Drogheda Town Centre recently and looked up at some of the buildings in West Street you may have noticed a small change, Love Drogheda BID have recently worked on a pilot Facade Improvement Initiative with property owners, aimed at bringing renewed colour, vibrancy, and pride back into Drogheda’s historic town centre.
The initiative, funded by Love Drogheda BID and local property owners, has been supported by Murtagh’s of Drogheda through Dulux and Drogheda Hire, ensuring the highest quality materials and professional finish for participating buildings. Jane Witter, a colour consultant from Dulux helped select the rich heritage colours to be applied which have helped to bring a consistency to the project and highlight some of the key features within the buildings themselves.

To date, seven buildings have been freshly painted as part of the first phase of the scheme, transforming the appearance of key streetscapes in the town. The visual impact has been immediate and striking, which helps develop a positive first impression of the town upon arrival and injecting new life, brightness, and a sense of optimism into Drogheda’s centre.

“This initiative is about more than just paint—it’s about pride of place,” said Trevor Connolly Love Drogheda BID CEO. “The difference it has made already is remarkable. The renewed freshness of the buildings compliments the recent openings including Loaf'd, World of Spice, Zambreros, Specsavers relocation and activity in the town centre, helping to create a more welcoming environment for everyone.”

The Façade Improvement Initiative is part of Love Drogheda BID’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the town centre’s appearance, supporting local businesses, and driving footfall. With the success of this first phase, the BID is now planning to roll out a second phase of the initiative in 2026, extending the benefits to even more properties across Drogheda.
“The response from business and property owners has been overwhelmingly positive,” added Sarah Taaffe, Chairperson Love Drogheda BID. “We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue transforming our streetscapes in the coming years.”

Love Drogheda BID extends its gratitude to all participating property owners, Murtagh’s of Drogheda, Dulux, Drogheda Hire and Louth Coco for their invaluable support in making this initiative a success.
