The much-anticipated Lú Festival of Light returns for its fourth spectacular year, lighting up Drogheda from 24th to 27th October. A vibrant celebration of ancient mythology, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.
Inspired by Ireland’s legendary tales and mythological figures, this year’s festival will bring to life powerful stories from Cú Chulainn & Ferdia, The Morrigan, and Queen Maeve’s Tain march, alongside a hero-piece feature on Drogheda, its history and some of its most notable people and achievements.
With the countdown very much on as the darker nights start to settle in, the Lú Festival of Light promises to illuminate some of Drogheda’s best-known landmarks with world-class storytelling and urban animations, making it Ireland’s premier lighting event this year.
This year, we are delving even deeper into some of Ireland’s most beloved mythological stories and heroic tales. We are also creating a four-day event that is not to be missed, including additional activities for families and late-night events. This year’s festival will include a storytelling event at Drogheda Library; the epic Spooks Parade by Droichead Arts Centre kicks off the festival on Friday 24th and the TLT hosts the “Lets Glow Crazy: Hocus Glow-cus” UV Light kids disco on Sunday 26th.

For the adults, Deadly Craic Comedy Club and Mc Hughs venue will host “Comedy for Witches” on Friday 24th while Earth night also has a Lu Festival themes A Halloween Fancy Dress ball will take place in The Marcy on Saturday. Join us in Drogheda this October to celebrate light, legend, and local pride.
The Lú Festival of Light is delivered in partnership by Love Drogheda Business Improvement District (BID), produced by Visual Spectrum, and proudly funded by Louth County Council, Love Drogheda BID, Drogheda Councillors and supported by Failte Ireland
